Privacy policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Chime In collects no data. There are no accounts, no analytics and no Chime In servers. Your key and settings stay on your device.

What Chime In does

Chime In is a Chrome extension that helps you write comments on LinkedIn posts. When you pick a mode, it reads the text of the post you chose and anything you typed in the comment box, asks an AI model to write a comment, and places the result in the comment box. It never submits the comment for you.

What is sent, and where

To generate a comment, the extension sends the text of the post you choose and anything you typed directly from your browser to OpenRouter (and the model provider OpenRouter routes your request to), using your own OpenRouter API key. This is done solely to generate the comment. The request does not pass through any server operated by Chime In.

OpenRouter and the model provider handle that content under their own terms and privacy policies. We recommend reviewing them at openrouter.ai.

What is stored on your device

Your OpenRouter API key, your selected model, your custom modes, your edited prompts and your “About me / tone” text are stored in chrome.storage.local on your device. This data is not synced to us or to anyone else, and you can remove it at any time by clearing the extension’s data or uninstalling it.

What we do not do

Permissions

The extension only needs access to LinkedIn pages so it can read the post you select and fill in its comment box, and permission to store settings locally. It makes network requests only to OpenRouter.

Open source

Chime In is open source, so you can verify all of the above in the code: github.com/eteen12/chime-in.
